For the first four months of 2018, Victoria has seen an increase in accommodation, airport and conference centre activity (BC Ferries’ data was not available at the time of publication). This increase bodes well for the remainder of the year given that it occurred in our low season. Anecdotally, we’re hearing that summer booking levels are strong. This strength is already translating into healthy increases in average RevPAR (up $7.50 YTD).

Conference Centre activity is off to a very strong start for 2018; year-to-date, the number of delegate days is pacing at 176% higher than for the same period last year – representing 17,000+ more delegate days. These delegates likely helped contribute to improved year-over-year occupancy for March which was 75% (up 1.5%), and improved airport activity (up 4.2%) and BC Ferries activity (passenger traffic up 6%).
