  • Keep current on employment legislation that may impact your staff.
  • The Employment Standards Act provides for the minimum requirements within the workplace. You can do and offer more to your staff!
  • Have an employment lawyer review your employment agreement and separation paperwork to ensure that you are compliant with current legislation.
  • Understand the severance requirements of the Employment Standards Act and common law. Ask an employment lawyer for advice if you feel that your paperwork and performance documentation is not sufficient for a "for cause" separation.
  • If someone is making a claim of discrimination, harassment or anything contrary to company policy, be sure to investigate this thoroughly and professionally.
